Heading back to Stamford Bridge
Tiemoue Bakayoko has spoken out about his future with the Frenchman set to return to Chelsea after a loan spell with AC Milan last season.
The midfielder joined Chelsea from Monaco back in 2017 with very high expectations.
Having been part of the Monaco side which won Ligue 1 and impressed in the Champions League, he signed in a deal reportedly worth £40million.
However, Bakayoko didn’t live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge.
That lead to a loan move to AC Milan last season where he performed decently, though fell out with manager Gennaro Gattuso.
Now, Bakayoko has been speaking about his future with the midfielder set to return to Chelsea.
“I do not have a choice”
Speaking to L’Equipe, as cited by the Mail, Bakayoko claims he does ‘not have a choice’ but to return to Chelsea this summer.
‘Yes, I have three years left on my contract. I do not have a choice,’ he explained.
‘What will happen next, I’m not sure, but I have to go back to Chelsea, that’s the only thing we know.’
Asked about a return to France, Bakayoko did talk up a move to Paris Saint-Germain, claiming he would like to play in Paris one day.
‘For sure, one day I would like to play in Paris,’ he continued.
‘I cannot lie about it. It’s big for me and my loved ones. We are real Parisians.’
There’s set to be a lot of change at Chelsea this summer.
While there won’t be any incomings due to their transfer ban, there’s set to be a big change on the touchline.
With Maurizio Sarri set to leave the club, Frank Lampard has been heavily linked with a return to Stamford Bridge.
Now, it’s been revealed how much it will cost Chelsea to snatch him from Derby.
