Dortmund boss confirms Sancho wasn’t injured despite first-half sub vs Bayern

Dortmund hammered by Bayern

The first Der Klassiker of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season took place on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund traveled to Bayern Munich as they looked to edge their way back to the top of the league.

Bayern started the day one point behind Dortmund but going off their display on Saturday, you would not have thought that.

Robert Lewandowski continued his sensational start to the season by putting Bayern 1-0 up inside 17 minutes vs Dortmund.

The game remained 1-0 for the rest of the first half. But after the interval, Bayern ran riot over their rivals.

Serge Gnabry made it 2-0 just after the break before a second Lewandowski strike and a Mats Hummels own goal capped off an emphatic 4-0 victory for Bayern who are now up to 3rd in the Bundesliga.

Jadon Sancho not injured

Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho was taken off 36 minutes into the defeat on Saturday.

Given the earliness of his withdrawal, you would have thought Sancho was injured.

This would have been a huge blow for England as Sancho has been called up to their latest squad for their upcoming games with Montenegro and Kosovo.

However, Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre has calmed any potential injury fears, stating that Sancho wasn’t injured and he was subbed off because he ‘was just not good enough’:

“He was injured for two days, couldn’t train. He trained yesterday, and I think you could see that he was just not good enough. He wasn’t injured.” As quoted by Sky Sports News.
