Everton star Wayne Rooney has revealed the two Manchester United stars that have helped shape his career for the better by teaching him.
The Englishman left Man United to return to his boyhood club in the summer transfer window, with Romelu Lukaku going the other way.
It’s been a decently successful time so far having chipped in with a fair few goals from deeper in midfield.
Having made it clear that he feels his best position is deeper, he has now been talking about the knowledge of football you need.
Not only that, he has been talking about the two Manchester United players that have helped him discover other qualities besides those on the pitch.
Those two players come in the form of two of the best, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes.
“What people see on the pitch, they don’t see your other qualities,” he said.
“To have knowledge about football you have to learn it. How do you get better? How do you move forward? If you want to get into management, you only get better by studying.
“They [Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville] said keep working, keep playing and study the game – that was the big one.
“I used to play off the cuff and that can only happen for so long, so then I really took an interest in studying the game, how different players play and how different teams play.
“Then you realise the different styles and learn more about the game.”

That wasn’t the only thing that Rooney was talking about this week though.
The Englishman has been talking about his exit from Manchester United and how different it could have been.
That is because the player could have joined other clubs instead.
